How Much Does a Week in Dahab Actually Cost?
Real numbers for a week here in 2026: a bed, three meals a day, a few dives and the taxis in between.
Dahab is cheap by Red Sea standards and people still get the numbers wrong, usually by budgeting like Sharm. Here is what a week costs if you live the way most visitors here do.
A bed
A simple camp room with a fan and a shared kitchen runs 400 to 700 EGP a night, and a sea-view hut at one of the eco camps on the reef is 1,300 to 1,700. A double in a small hotel with a pool is 1,400 to 3,000. Nobody pays the rate on the booking sites for a stay longer than three nights — ask the place directly and the weekly price is usually a night or two cheaper.
Eating
Breakfast at a seafront café is 120 to 200 EGP. A proper fish dinner with salads and bread is 300 to 500. Cooking for yourself from the supermarket costs about a third of that, and most camps have a kitchen.
Diving
A guided shore dive with tanks and weights is 1,000 to 1,400 EGP. A day at the Blue Hole with two dives, transport and lunch is 1,600 to 2,000. An Open Water course is 8,500 to 11,000, four days, certification included.
Getting around
A taxi anywhere inside town is 50 to 80 EGP; to the Blue Hole 150 to 200 each way. Most people walk the promenade and take a taxi twice a week.
A week, added up
Staying in a camp, eating out twice a day and diving three times: about 12,000 EGP. In a hotel with a pool, eating well and diving every day: about 28,000. Both are a real week here, and the difference is mostly the bed.
